We ate our way across 1/4 of the world. They brought us drinks and food, drinks and food.
Yum! Yum! Coffee and desert followed.
They served us supper at 5.30 pm and turned off the cabin lights (a sure sign they wanted us to go to sleep) at 7.30 pm. But instead we watched Sandra Bullock in "The Proposal" and "Star Trek XI." At 10.30 pm (our time) the cabin lights came back up and they started serving breakfast. Wait! We haven't been asleep!
The sun came up as we crossed the coast of Ireland. We asked our seat-mate to take this picture out the plane window:
We arrived in Amsterdam about 12.00 midnight on our body clock. So we moved slowly through the airport looking for some coffee and a souvenir t-shirt.
The plane to Edinburgh was a wee-bit late. We went to one gate. They changed the gate. We went to the next gate. They changed the plane. Thank goodness, because it was experiencing mechanical difficulties.
We arrived in Edinburgh just a few minutes late. But we had a good flight and even better, a safe landing. The Scots welcomed us with open arms and big signs.
Cathy was on the ground in a foreign country where they barely speak English. BTW, the other language is Gaelic.
We arrived at our Scottish home-away-from-home, 11b Eildon Street EH3 5JU, after a 30 minute ride with an Edinburgh cabbie. We unpacked and napped. We needed it. We were tired. Then after a 10-minute walk to the Tesco (everything is a 10 minute walk from the flat), we stocked up on groceries. We had an early dinner (early for us) at 5.30 pm (Scottish time).
That raps up the first day of our big Scottish adventure. I feel an early bedtime coming on. Tune in tomorrow for another update.
